I Was Working 70 Hours Per Week, My Revenue Was Stagnant and My Personal Life Was Non Existent Until…

The year was 2012, my business was looking great (on paper). Hell, if you would have told me just five years prior that I’d be doing between £500K – £600K in revenue four years in a row (2009 – 2012), I would have been ecstatic, but I felt stuck and was severely unhappy with my business.

When my business hit £500k for the first time I was full of hope. That ever looming 7 figure business I had always dreamed about was just around the corner. I could feel it...

I thought that all I needed to do to get there was to work harder. I had found the formula that made my business work, now all I needed to do was twice as much of what I did the year before and I’d be there.

Easy as can be, right?

Well, I soon found out (the hard way), it wasn’t that simple.

Over the next three years, I did work twice as hard. I was putting in more hours than ever before. I did the same stuff that I was doing to get to £500k and I did more of it. I kept asking myself, why isn’t this working?

When I put in double the work, I didn’t get double the revenue, but I did get double the problems...

I had issues, BIG issues. It seemed like every move I made was costing me more and more time and had unexpected negative consequences.

  • Increasing my team size meant spending more time training and answering questions
  • Increasing my email marketing meant more people opting out and registering spam complaints
  • Increasing the number of sales promotions lead to lower conversion rates
  • Increasing high-level clients meant I had to spend more time with them and less time with other clients - resulting in my mid-level clients dropping out and/or requesting refunds

All of this stress and pressure was really getting to me. I wanted to be enjoying my life and spending more time with my kids - not working and worrying every second of the day.

I had to make a change. I finally had enough.

I took some time out and took a long, hard look at my business from the outside.

When I did that, the solution to my problems hit me like a 10-ton truck…

You Cannot Run A 7 Figure Business The Same Way As You Run A 6 Figure Business!

I was tapped out. I couldn’t do anymore…

I finally realized that I had exhausted my number one resource… ME!

So in order for my business to grow, it needed to overhaul it so it would work without me.

Then, and only then, would I be able to scale it properly.

Before I had been trying to scale something that was impossible to scale - my time.

It’s impossible to create more time.

It’s impossible to duplicate yourself.

But…

You can’t scale a business that is dependent on any one person.

I needed to remove myself from the business in order for my business to scale.

There was still one BIG problem though. How do I remove myself from a business that is so dependent on me?

It turned out that I had the answer to that question all along. In fact, I had already helped some of my clients implement some of the same strategies I needed to apply.

I went back to work, only this time it was different. I was working ON my business instead of working IN my business.

I developed a six-step plan and followed it to a ‘T’...

... and within 2 years I went from £603k to £4.7m.

I called this plan “Systemise and Scale” and I’m still using and refining it to this day.

Once i figured out the formula transforming any 6 figure business to a multi 7 figure business, I felt I had found my calling…
